Pioneer Labs / Reference

Peptide names and notation.

One table of the names each compound goes by, with its length or class and its public record, and a key to how sequences are written.

Published by Pioneer LabsUpdated Sources & editorial standards

Most compounds in this library go by more than one name: the name a catalog lists, the names in public records, a research identifier from the literature. This page sets them side by side and links each compound’s guide.

How names are written.

The guides write a peptide as its residues in order, from the N-terminus. End groups and prefixes are part of the identity, so they are written too.

Notation in the library’s names and sequences
Lys–Pro–Val or KPVOne chain written two ways: a three-letter code for each residue, joined by dashes, or a one-letter code for each. Both are read from the N-terminus.
Ac– at the startAn acetyl group on the N-terminus. It is an end group, not a residue.
–NH₂ at the endAn amide at the C-terminus, also an end group.
–OH at the endA C-terminus left as a free acid.
D- before a residueThe D-configured form of that residue: D-Phe is D-phenylalanine.
Aib, Nle, Dmt, pGluResidues written by abbreviation: alpha-aminoisobutyric acid, norleucine, dimethyltyrosine and pyroglutamate.
γ-GluGlutamate joined through its gamma-carboxyl group, not by a conventional alpha-peptide bond.
Cys7–Cys14Two residues, named with their positions, joined by a bond: here a disulfide between the cysteines at positions 7 and 14.
(1–29) after a nameThe positions taken from a longer chain: GHRH (1–29) is the first 29 residues of GHRH.
INNInternational nonproprietary name. Emideltide is DSIP’s.
A code such as PL-14736A research identifier, a name a compound carries in public records and the literature. PL-14736 is BPC-157’s.
CID, UNIIRecord numbers: a CID for a compound’s PubChem record, a UNII for a substance’s FDA record.
Each convention is used in this library’s guides or in a product page’s specifications.

Every compound, by name.

The compounds are grouped as the research library groups them. Each name leads to its guide.

Reference values from public records, not a Pioneer lot specification. “None listed” means this table lists none.

Where the values come from.

Lengths, classes and record numbers come from public records such as PubChem, UniProt and the FDA’s substance registry. Each row links its record, and each guide lists its own sources.

Where a compound has no public record linked, its row gives the form Pioneer supplies. A blend’s row names its components.

Other names are the names those records give a compound and the short names vendors use for it.
