Identity at a glance.
Public records describe BPC-157 as one synthetic 15-residue peptide. The values below are for the free peptide; the salt form of a supplied lot follows its own record.

02 / Molecular architecture
A closer look at the chain.
BPC-157 is one linear chain of 15 residues, GEPPPGKPADDAGLV. Three prolines sit together at positions 3–5 and a fourth at position 8, and two aspartates sit side by side at positions 10–11. There is no cysteine, so the chain has no disulfide bridge.

What fifteen residues tells you.
The residue count gives the length of the BPC-157 backbone, but length alone is not an identity test. Many unrelated peptides can contain fifteen residues. Their order, the chemistry at each end and any modifications distinguish one chain from another. A useful reference identifies the molecule beyond its abbreviation.
From a named peptide to a defined experiment.
A BPC-157 paper ties its observations to the material and experimental system it describes. A single-component experiment and an experiment involving a mixture answer different questions. Keep the material definition separate from the measured endpoint when comparing a BPC-157 reference with a formulation containing additional peptides.

BPC-157 in blends.
Three blends each hold 10mg of BPC-157. In every one it stays a separate 15-residue molecule, not joined to the other components.

Research & analytical context.
PubChem and FDA’s Global Substance Registration System both record BPC-157 as the 15-residue sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV. The cited study describes its own test material. For an analytical record, the complete sequence and terminal chemistry distinguish this material from other short peptides; the name alone does not document a particular lot.

The distinction that matters
An individual BPC-157 reference does not establish the composition, stability or analytical results of a BPC-157-containing blend.
05 / From reference to record
Know the lot, too.
A publication describes its own test material. Your lot’s certificate describes what was tested on that lot. Keep the compound name, batch number and reported methods together when reviewing a result.
Identity & composition
Check sequence or chemical form, terminal modifications, counterion and—where relevant—each blend component.
Analytical results
Read purity, content, sterility and endotoxin results as separate measurements. Only call a test passed when the actual report supports it.
Handling & storage notes
Lyophilized material: Store at −20°C; protect from light and moisture.
Follow the material-specific label and supporting storage documentation. These temperatures do not establish a shelf life.
How to store lyophilized peptides06 / Reference questions
A few details, explained.
Does the number 157 mean there are 157 amino acids?
No. BPC-157 is the compound name; the reference peptide has fifteen residues. Digits in a research identifier do not necessarily state chain length, molecular mass or the amount of material in a vial.
Is BPC-157 the same material as BPC-157 + TB-500?
No. One describes an individual peptide and the other a formulation with another named component. A record for BPC-157 alone cannot describe the full composition of that mixture.
